Abstract

The aim of conducting the research was to determine the effect of using the Encyclopedia Learning Resource "National Identity" on students' understanding at SMP Negeri 9 Metro. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach. The population of this research was class VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Metro. The sample in this study was class VII-4 as an experimental class with a total of 31 students and class VII-6 as a control class with a total of 31 students. The data collection technique in this research is by using tests, questionnaires and interviews. Based on the calculation results of the Independent Samples Test used in this research, it was found that there was an influence of the use of the "national identity" encyclopedia learning resource on the understanding of class VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Metro and based on the N-Gain Score test it had an effectiveness of 52% of students. in the experimental class that used the encyclopedia learning resource "national identity" had a greater understanding in classroom learning. Students are more enthusiastic, interested and have more attention to read, study, understand, and have the desire to have the encyclopedia book.
