Abstract

The Hari Tasyrik tradition is a form of religiously-oriented local wisdom still preserved by the
community of Bega Village, Central Sula Besi District, Sula Islands Regency. This tradition is
not merely viewed as a series of Islamic observances following Eid al-Adha; it also embodies
religious values and a sense of social concern that play a role in shaping the character of the
younger generation. However, the advance of globalization and shifting lifestyles threaten to
diminish the younger generation's understanding of and engagement with the tradition's values
and significance. This study aims to describe the preservation of the Hari Tasyrik tradition in
Bega Village as a means to strengthen the religious character and social consciousness of the
youth. A qualitative approach utilizing a case study method was employed. Data were gathered
through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving the village head,
customary leaders, religious figures, youths, and community members directly involved in the
tradition's observance. Data analysis proceeded through stages of collection, reduction,
presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Hari Tasyrik tradition
continues to be observed regularly with active community participation. Its preservation is
supported by strong religious values, social solidarity, a spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong
royong), and the active role of community leaders. Conversely, inhibiting factors include the
influence of globalization, changing lifestyles, and a declining understanding of the tradition's
significance among some young people. Preserving the Hari Tasyrik tradition contributes
positively to strengthening the religious character and social consciousness of the youth,
particularly by fostering values such as faith, sincerity, gratitude, responsibility, empathy,
togetherness, and social solidarity.
