Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Penelitian Geografi must align with the journal’s focus and scope. Authors are required to read and understand the guidelines before submitting their manuscripts. Manuscripts that do not comply with the guidelines and the official template will be rejected by the editorial team before the review process.

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. Authors must ensure accuracy, clarity, and proper grammar prior to submission. Once a manuscript is submitted to Jurnal Penelitian Geografi, it may not be published in any other journal.

1. Submission Procedure

Authors must submit their manuscripts through the online submission system (OJS) at:

https://jpips.fkip.unila.ac.id/index.php/jpg/submission

The editorial team will conduct an initial screening within a maximum of 14 days to decide whether the manuscript will proceed to peer review.

If the manuscript is rejected at the initial stage, authors may revise and submit it again as a new submission.

2. Manuscript Template

3. Peer Review Process

The journal implements a double-blind peer review system.
After passing the initial review, the manuscript will:

  1. Be assigned to two expert reviewers

  2. Be evaluated based on originality, novelty, methodology, scientific contribution, and relevance

  3. Receive recommendations for acceptance, revision, or rejection

The editor will make the final decision based on reviewers’ feedback.
The review process typically takes 1–2 months.

4. Revision Process

Authors must revise their manuscripts according to reviewers’ comments and upload the revised version through the revision menu in the OJS system. The editor will reassess the manuscript before issuing a final decision.

Accepted manuscripts will proceed to editing, layout, and publication.

5. General Requirements for Authors

  • About the Journal: Authors must read and agree to the editorial policies on the “About” page.

  • Focus and Scope: Manuscripts must match the journal’s stated focus and scope.

  • Copyright and License: Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.

  • Author Declaration: All authors must complete and sign the required declaration forms.

  • Publication Ethics: Authors must follow COPE’s publication ethics guidelines.

  • Research Ethics: Research must adhere to ethical standards, especially for studies involving sensitive data or human subjects.

  • Open Access Policy: All articles are openly accessible to support knowledge dissemination.

  • Manuscript Format: Manuscripts must comply with the formatting requirements available on the Manuscript Format page.

  • Plagiarism Screening: Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism and will be checked using plagiarism-detection software.

6. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

6.1 General Format

  • File format: Microsoft Word (doc/docx)

  • Word count: 4000–8000 words

  • Required structure: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, References

  • Reference style: APA 7th Edition

6.2 Titles and Headings

Use heading styles according to the template without numbering.

6.3 Technical Formatting

  • Font: Aptos Narrow 11 pt

  • Spacing: Single

  • Paragraph indent: 0.75 cm

  • Paper size: A4

  • Margins: Top 2.5 cm; Bottom 2.5 cm; Left 3 cm; Right 2 cm

Tables and Figures

  • Must be clear, readable, and have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI

  • Include titles and data sources

Article Title

  • Maximum 14 words

  • Aptos Narrow 18 pt bold

  • Must be informative and reflect content

Authors and Affiliations

  • No academic titles

  • Affiliations include university name and country only

Abstract and Keywords

  • Written in English

  • 150–300 words

  • Keywords: 2–5 words in alphabetical order

Introduction

Must include:

  • Background

  • Literature review

  • Research gap

  • Novelty

  • Research questions or problem statements

Results and Discussion

Provide in-depth analysis, interpretation, and comparison with previous studies.

Conclusion

  • Answers research objectives

  • 1–2 paragraphs

  • Highlights scientific contribution

  • Does not repeat the abstract

Recommendations (optional)

Contains practical implications or suggestions for future research.

Acknowledgments

Address those who contributed to the research.

Funding Information

If applicable, provide the funding source.

References

  • Follow APA 7th Edition

  • At least 80% journal sources

  • Minimum 5 Scopus-indexed articles

  • Preferably from the last 5 years

7. Submission Checklist
