Jurnal Penelitian Geografi (JPG) Focus and Scope |
| Jurnal Penelitian Geografi (JPG) is a journal that features articles on geography-related topics. Each article is expected to exhibit a strong spatial dimension and geographical analysis, either based on field data or spatial technology. Interdisciplinary research is welcome, provided that it emphasizes a geographical perspective. JPG accepts manuscripts in both Indonesian and English, in the form of empirical research, case studies, or conceptual models grounded in geography. |
| 01 — Physical Geography | |
| Geomorphology and landscape dynamics • Hydrology and watershed (river basin) management • Climate change • Soil degradation • Landscape ecology and its interrelation with land systems • Renewable and non-renewable natural resources • Interactions between physical processes and human activities on the environment (geo-ecology) | |
| 02 — Human Geography | |
| Settlement patterns and urbanization • Population mobility, migration, and demographic dynamics • Economic geography and spatial transformation of regions • Political geography and territorial boundaries • Geography of education, health, and social welfare • Cultural geography and local identity • Culture-based tourism and ecotourism • Socio-ecological changes and sustainable development across different regions | |
| 03 — Disaster Geography | |
| Identification, zoning, and mitigation of multi-hazard disasters (tsunami, earthquake, flood, landslide, drought, volcanic eruption) • Community risk, vulnerability, and capacity toward disasters • Local-based adaptation and resilience • Community- and technology-driven disaster management • Disaster simulation and loss prediction models • Integration of local wisdom and modern technology in disaster mitigation • Post-disaster policy and spatial planning geography | |
| 04 — Remote Sensing | |
| Integration of remote sensing with UAV/drone data • Detection of land use/land cover changes • Estimation of biophysical parameters (NDVI, soil moisture, surface temperature) • Multitemporal and multisensor analysis • Spatial modeling based on remote sensing for regional planning, multi-hazard potential assessment, and watershed management • Image data validation and accuracy assessment for thematic mapping | |
| 05 — Geographic Information Systems (GIS) | |
| Integration of GIS with AI, Machine Learning, or Big Data technologies • Spatial analysis and geographical modeling • Development of spatial databases and digital mapping • GIS applications for regional planning, transportation, and land-use management • GIS for disaster mitigation and natural resource management • WebGIS and real-time geospatial monitoring systems • Development of spatial visualization methods and dashboards | |
| General Notes: Each article is expected to exhibit a strong spatial dimension and geographical analysis, either based on field data or spatial technology. Interdisciplinary research is also welcome, provided that it emphasizes a geographical perspective.
