Journal History

To maintain system stability, security, and the quality of our editorial services, Jurnal Penelitian Geografi (JPG) has undergone several platform migrations over the years. These migrations were necessary due to recurring technical issues in previous OJS installations, including security breaches, plugin failures, and unsuccessful system upgrades.

The official history of the platform transitions is outlined below:

1. Period of Volume 1–12 (First OJS Platform – Web 1)

During this period, JPG published Volume 1 through Volume 12. The platform was later discontinued due to several technical issues, including:

  • security breach (online gambling hack),

  • malfunctioning plugins,

  • unsuccessful upgrade to OJS 3.

2. March 2025 – October 2025 (Second OJS Platform – Web 2)

In this phase, JPG migrated to a second OJS platform and temporarily published Volume 13 here. However, this installation also encountered significant technical problems, such as:

  • recurring system errors,

  • inability to harvest OAI metadata,

  • failed OJS upgrade attempts.

3. Current OJS Platform (From Volume 13 Issue 1 Onwards)

Starting from Volume 13 Issue 1 and onwards, the journal has been fully managed and published on this new and permanent platform. This migration ensures improved system stability, long-term accessibility, and better support for editorial and publishing workflows.
